Beginning this year, JOSL has introduced “FIFA divisions”. FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association, english Translation: International Federation of Association Football), was founded in France in 1904 and is the international governing body for soccer with 208 member nations divided into 6 divisions: AFC – Asian Football Confederation, CAF – Confederation Africaine de Football, CONCACAF – Confederation of North, Central American, and Caribbean Association Football, CONMEBOL – Confederacion Sudamericana de Futbol, OFC – Oceania Football Confederation, UEFA – Union of European Football Associations

JOSL is using the top teams from each Confederation and assigning each team a county and flag. This initiative aims to further supplement education by teaching the geography and expand cultural knowledge. This is our latest program as we continue to improve the quality of the league for both the players and their parents. Soccer is the primary means through which JONP develops the leadership skills of Newark’s youth.

It is important to recognize the coaches and assistant coaches serve as mentors to their players on and off the field. All our coaches, referees, volunteer parents, and volunteer board members participate in leadership training to ensure the league is providing the players with a safe and secure environment while expanding the family atmosphere.
