JOSL (Just One Soccer League– Youth- Recreation soccer) is a soccer program primarily devoted to the enjoyment and development of soccer players Ages 6- to 18-year-olds, without emphasizing travel or high-level competition. Instead, recreational soccer aims to allow the participants to have fun, learn the sport, and develop life skills, including a lifelong love of the game. Our regional league supports players from local communities outside of City of Newark.
JOSL will provide each season participant with a new team jersey, short and sacks, you will need to get proper footwear in soccer cleats and/or turf shoes. Shin guards are required. Please purchase age and size-appropriate equipment. No jewelry (earrings, bracelets, oversized hair clips) is allowed on the field.
JOSL soccer games are traditionally played Saturday from 9:00 am until 2 pm or later. Games are about an hour longer. We will do our best to make up games canceled due to weather, field conditions, or global, national, or local public health issues. However, game schedules will be published a week before the start of the season.
The Head Coach or coaching staff sets practice dates and times. Since our JOSL program is comprised mainly of volunteer parent coaches, we allow them to establish practice times and dates around their work or personal schedule. However, we request that the volunteers keep days and times consistent each week so everyone involved can plan accordingly and attend all practices on time. Practices are not to take place no earlier than 14 days prior to the 1st official scheduled game.
When does the season start?
Spring Season starts with the parade of champions, date to be determine, games will start a week after and goes for 10 weeks until last week in June.
